Graduated from Suffolk University Law School and has been an attorney since 1976. Soon after graduation, he became greatly involved in “Stop Wasting Abandoned Property”, as a member of its board and its attorney. He represented many of the people who bought abandoned houses and rehabilitated them.
Besides gaining experience in resolving some extremely thorny title and financing questions, he was delighted to be part of the process that helped people own homes and revitalize Providence.
He is excited to do similar work in the business community. In 1990, he received an award, the only one given to an individual that year, from Rhode Island Housing & Mortgage Finance Corporation for efforts to promote home ownership of low and moderate-income people.
His practice, Cagen Law Office, has continued to serve the needs of consumers in civil matters and small businesses. For many years he practiced on Elmwood Avenue in the South Elmwood neighborhood and currently has an office on Hope Street.
